Graffiti at the Adelaide Festival

Kristin: Here at Bridge8 we are interested in ideas that promote technology, art and creative expression. This is why we will be sponsoring the Graffiti Research Lab (NY), from 3-7 March, 2008 at Artspace during the Adelaide Festival. Applications are now open for a week-long masterclass presented by the  Evan Roth and James Powderly of the Graffiti Research Lab (GRL) are dedicated to outfitting street artists with open source technologies for urban communication. The goal of GRL is to technologically empower individuals to creatively alter and reclaim their surroundings from unchecked development and corporate visual culture. GRL have been touring the globe, demonstrating and teaching new graffiti technologies and DIY skills to diverse public audiences. Their work has been featured in the NY Times, Wooster Collective, TIME Magazine, Visual Resistance and The Village Voice. In 2006, Ars Electronica presented GRL with an Award of Distinction in Interactive Art. Bridge8 and Nanotechnology Victoria will be sponsoring the event by contributing interesting nanomaterials for use in this masterclass.  There are 9 places available for SA participants and ANAT is supporting 5 places for other national participants as part of their emerging technologies program.  Download an application form from Carclew Youth Arts. Applications close 16 November 2007.  For further information please contact Annemarie Kohn on 08 8267 5111 or akohn@carclew.org.au.
