Animations: This Thing Called Science

TTCS_doubtpuppet

UPDATE: This series won Best Animation in CSIRO’s Scinema 2013 awards. Scinema is an International Festival of Science Film. In 2013 there were over 300 entries.

We’re thrilled to launch our next series of animations: This Thing Called Science. This series follows on from Critical Thinking, showing the way we think scientifically by considering skepticism, testing, blinding, uncertainty  ethics and citizen science. Bridge8 edited, produced, animated and directed this series for TechNyou, an emerging technologies public information resource funded by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE).

The resource continues themes covered in the first critical thinking series on strengthening critical thinking with scepticism and analysis and introduces the basic elements of the scientific process.

Suitable for high school years 8-10 (that’s 12-15 year olds, but is just as appropriate for a general adult audience), and focused on science issues, the module can be adapted to suit classroom plans.

As for the first series, an education resource with module and teacher guide has  been developed by Mike McCrae and will be released on the TechNyou education site in early June.

If you’re a huge fan of this work we also have This Thing Called Science themed merchandise.
