Kristin: It’s about time we updated you on the exciting things that have been happening for our Bridge8 family.
If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard from Sarah over the past 6 weeks, this is because she’s looking after a brand new baby boy. Congratulations! Sarah says she and the rest of the family are settling in well. She will take up to 12 months maternity leave, but will be in regular contact. We’re looking forward to them visiting Bridge8 after the school holidays are over.
With now 8 children a part of the Bridge8 family, our working practices have always been flexible and therefore family-friendly. On September 30, Bridge8 was announced as one of the recipients of the Fresh Ideas Grants initiated by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. This grant will allow us to furnish a dedicated Family Room to help us manage those occasions when bringing our children to work for a few hours is easier for everyone (eg pupil-free days, sick days, after school, occasionally during school holidays). The room will have some toy boxes, a television/DVD and fold-out sofa beds, as well as being equipped to make return to work easier for Sarah and any future additions to our family. I know my girls are very excited about it – and I suspect Alex will also appreciate not being the only distraction for my little one!
