Kristin: Bridge8 supported the Australian Nano Business Forum’s seminar and networking reception in Adelaide last night. Dr Erol Harvey of MiniFab spoke about commercialisation challenges in nanotechnology. He spoke about the excitement in exploring nanotechnology and charted the changes in related products and support services in Australia over the past few years. He also stressed the importance of international leverage. Lyndal Gully of the Australian Science Media Centre spoke about their role in providing science information and access for journalists and the perception of nanotechnology in the media. She talked about media interest in science that is a breakthrough, a scare or something quirky and proved that animal pictures are funny!
Representatives from the three major South Australian universities, state and federal government, industry, arts, media and education found out more about the ANBF and each others’ interests. We hope this is the start of a new network for a the range of people interested in nanotechnology in Adelaide. The next seminar will take place in November.
