Jenna: A new Flinders University research centre, that aims to change public and student perceptions about science and boost the nation’s prospects of meeting future skills needs, was officially opened by the Premier, Mr Mike Rann, this month
The Flinders Centre for Science Education in the 21st Century (to be known as Science21) was founded to address declining enrolments in secondary and tertiary studies in the sciences and its key role will be to stimulate and test ideas that might influence parents, teachers, business people and policy makers about the importance of science.
The Flinders Centre for Science Education in the 21st Century is funded by a $1.3 million grant from the SA Government and three departments – the Department of Education and Children”s Services (DECS), the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST), and the Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED).
