Pie for Pi Day

Lisa: There aren’t enough science based holidays, so when I saw this one, I thought it deserved a mention, even if it does look like I’ve missed it this year. Pi Day (of which you celebrate by, of course, eating many pies) is a day for celebration, as the date 22/7 is an approximation for the mathamatical constant pi.Β  At CSIRO Mathematical & Information Sciences this week, lab lunches with pies will be held in Sydney and Melbourne to celebrate how useful and interesting maths is.Β  I’m off to celebrate maths with a nice slice of the pecan variety…..
